VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies (QCF) covers human anatomy, physiology and pathology, health safety and hygiene for complementary therapies, principles and practice of the industry, how to prepare the treatment area, yourself and client, how to deal with clients, use consultation techniques, plan treatments, and understand the benefits of therapies in order to provide treatments in face and body massage, aromatherapy and reflexology. This is a practitioner level qualification.  To achieve this qualification a number of treatments have to be done in the form of case studies.

• Business practice for complementary therapies(UC30321)
• Health, safety and hygiene for complementary therapies( UC30322)
• Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology((UC30323)
• Less common Pathology(UC30324)
• Prepare for and provide body massage(UC30325)
• Reflective practise for body massage(UC30326)
• Provide Aromatherapy -42 essential oils and  18 carrier oils covered(UC30327)
• Reflective practice for Aromatherapy(UC30328)
• Prepare for and provide Reflexology(AC30329)
• Reflective practice for Reflexology(UC30330)

Length of Course

This course runs in modules making it suitable students who have to travel from further away as well as local students.

Please also note that if you already have some of the qualification below you can gain APL(accredited prior learning). Your course will then work out cheaper. You choose how long you want to take. To keep costs down further, H&S, A&P, Business and Aromatherapy theory are completed via home study. 

What are the entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements apart from a sound understanding of written and spoken English.

How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed by:

• Assignments for each module
• Completed case studies for each practical module:

1. Body Massage - 15 treatments on a minimum of 6 clients.  
2. Aromatherapy- Case studies – you must carry out and document evidence for at least thirty treatments on a minimum of six clients. There must be a minimum of six treatments for each of three clients. 

3. Reflexology -50 treatments - (Case studies – you must carry out and document evidence for at least fifty treatments on a minimum of four clients. There must be a minimum of six treatments for at least two clients.

·         Body massage, aromatherapy and reflexology are practically assessed by practical observation and knowledge evidence.  And  multiple choice papers for H&S  and A&P set by VTCT.

·         Completed portfolios and assessment book

• Continuous assessment throughout the course in the form of written assignments, worksheets, oral questions, presentations and blending of oils

Home Study
Independent study is an essential part of this course and you will be required to do practical and theoretical home study between training sessions.
